Tom Hanson, DPT
My name is Tom Hanson, and I have been a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy for over 5 years now. Since graduating from Northeastern University and University of Connecticut, I have been practicing in the outpatient setting with extensive training in manual therapy (hands-on manipulation, mobilization, soft tissue and myofascial techniques) and orthopedic conditions. I take a full-body approach to understand pain, dysfunctions, compensations, and interactions within the individual.
I have found that the traditional rehabilitative and reactive medical model has held myself and my patients back in achieving true lasting changes and improvements. Therefore, I have decided to start my own “Cash-based” PT practice outside of the confines of insurance contracts - Integrity Physical Therapy
At the beginning of my college career, I also started the journey of training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This has been a passion of mine that has developed alongside my professional training, and it has been impossible not to integrate the two. I am currently a Brown Belt under Rob Magao and an instructor at Bushido Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in Manchester, CT.
Through my martial arts training I have had the pleasure of meeting many in the Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, and Military fields. I hope to use my unique knowledge base to serve these communities through my practice - (ask about discount for LEO, Fire/EMS, and active duty military)
At home I am a father to two young sons (Everett and Noah), two rescue dogs (Stella and Rocky), and husband to an amazing Physical Therapist and mother (Michaela).
What is Cash-based Physical therapy?
Integrity Physical Therapy is founded to break the traditional healthcare mold, and cater to those who want to improve performance or increase longevity in sport or career. The current medical model is reactive, and restrained by insurance companies that only support their clients to return to baseline, not become better. As a “cash-based” PT clinic (out-of-network with commercial insurance payers), we can avoid the restraints that insurance companies put on the patient-practitioner relationship. The therapist and patient can pivot and flex between body areas, functional goals, and treatment techniques at a more customized pace, without constantly requesting authorization.
You may have already experienced paying copays 2-3x/week for 30 min PT appointments, for months at a time. Integrity PT may be able to achieve the same progress with less frequent visits, and in less time overall. Your time and money will be valued with focused, customized, and 1-on-1 specialized treatment that addresses the body as a whole. We are happy to provide documentation for you to submit for out-of-network reimbursement, and offer package deals to reduce your overall costs.
